Creative Bookmaking Tent at Newcastle Writers Festival
It’s been a busy time! Last Friday, I flew down south for Newcastle Writers Festival.
I had the pleasure of attending this lovely festival with one of my best friends on Saturday. Laughed at Kitty Flanagan. Was inspired by authors like Inga Simpson and Jesse Blackadder.
On Sunday, the NWF team and my friend Hannah helped me set up the Creative Bookmaking Tent at Wheeler Place for the free family fun day. The volunteers and myself helped over a hundred creative children sew and decorate their own books. Most kids hung around for ages, writing and illustrating their stories. Our tent was very popular, and for some kids, it was their festival highlight. It’s great festivals like this offer a range of activities to hook kids’ love of writing and books.
Such a well-organised and quality festival to be part of. Thank you Newcastle for having me in your magical city!
