Story Tipi at the Byron Writers Festival
One of the best writers festivals in the country is about to set up in Byron Bay. If you’ve been before, you might already know about Kids Big Day Out on Sunday 6 August.
Kids Big Day Out is an amazing opportunity for kids to meet some of the authors behind their favourite books – people like Sally Rippin, Peter Hellier, Morris Gleitzman, Tristan Bancks and Richard Roxburgh.
This year, I will be in the Story Tipi all day Sunday, doing storytelling and bookmaking activities. The Story Tipi will be a fun place for younger siblings to hang out, and young creatives, who want to make their own books to take home.
Naturally, Archie from Archie and the Bear will be making an appearance, because, well, Archie loves a writers festival.
The Story Tipi program is below. Book your tickets for the festival here.

I’ll also be running a Masterclass for Young Writers at the Lismore Library next Thursday 5-6.30. This is a fun night for kids 10-18 to come and get stuck into their writing. The kids love connecting with authors as well as other people who love writing.
For adults wanting to write for children, my courses are starting at the Byron Community College next week, so there is still time to enrol. Head to their website for details.
