Workshops for adults and children

I’ve run fun and engaging writing courses for children and adults for a number of years.

In workshops, we look at story structure, and learn tools for writing a compelling story for children. We develop a character, plot and setting, and work out ways to increase tension. We also develop and workshop the story itself.

I also have a passion for hand-making the books themselves. Both kids and adults love this process, and there’s a lot of ownership over your story if you’ve made the entire book, start to finish! Lots of our handicrafts have been swept aside, but I find sitting down, with a needle, thread and paper is very grounding, and does wonders for creativity. Contact me if you would like me to lead a bookmaking and story craft workshop at your school or organisation.

“Thank you for that wonderful workshop you led for us all yesterday. It was so inspiring and the fire to yearn to write was awakened in me yesterday. Thank you so much again. I loved it.” – Susan, Sydney.

“It was great to get an insight into writing and the structure behind it. It was such a pleasure to meet you, hear about your professional journey along with your own perceptions about writing and the industry.” – Carla, Sydney.

“Thank you so much for yesterday, it was such a glorious taste of affirmation and freedom for me, both literally and creatively. Your generous, warm spirit imbued your teaching with encouragement, which all the participants would have felt.” – Mandy, Sydney.

Mentoring

Through my courses, and my relentless love of writing, several people have approached me for mentoring support. I love this work! I guide people through the process of writing. We look at what their week looks like, and brainstorm creative opportunities for writing. Using goal setting and a number of other coaching principles, we look at how to make writing a meaningful and integrated part of life. I also help edit stories, and guide the submission process.

A number of my clients have gone on to sign book deals, and make other important commitments to their writing. It’s a fun and dynamic process!

Contact me if you’d like to have a chat about how I can help you.
